Abstract/Summary:
Conventional bioadhesives have been shown to adhere to living biological tissues. However, their curing was not sufficiently expedient to permit convenient applications in vivo. A series of bioadhesives were prepared from copolymers of N-vinyl pyrrolidone with one of the reactive comonomers: 2-Acrylamido-methyl-1-propane, Vinylsuccinimide, Glycidyl acrylate, and 2-Isocyanatoethyl methacrylate. These bioadhesives demonstrated a fast UV-induced setting with a set time of about 3 minutes.;The bond strength between porcine intestine specimens and the bioadhesives was determined by peel energy or tensile strength of wound closure in the butt joint model. The bioadhesives in this study can provide improved values up to 4.6 N/m of 180...
