Abstract/Summary:
Ferromagnetic nanostructures have been the subject of extensive investigation in the last few decades due to the potential application in magnetic random access memory and spin-wave based devices. In this thesis, a comprehensive study of the static and dynamic behavior of various ferromagnetic nanostructures is presented. Firstly, a high-sensitivity perpendicular ferromagnetic resonance spectroscopy characterization system is developed and utilized to probe the spin wave modes in a wide range of ferromagnetic nanostructures as a function of the geometry parameters. Secondly, the effect of the spacer layer thickness on the dynamic properties of trilayer ferromagnetic nanostructures is systematically investigated. Lastly, the dynamic properties of the frustrated system consisting of lithographically defined artificial spin ice structures with different lattice geometries are investigated. It has been demonstrated that magnetization states can be effectively controlled by varying the field orientation and inter-element gap.
