A follow-up water chemistry study of the Chippewa River in the Mt. Pleasant area was performed between the dates of June, 1985 to June, 1986. The original study was carried out by D. Gipple in the year of 1972-1973. Parameters evaluated were: acidity, total alkalinity, dissolved oxygen, pH, temperature, total solids, non-filterable solids, conductivity, hardness, chlorides, sulfates, and several dissolved metals. The "t" statistical test was utilized to compare the data accumulated in this study and that obtained by D. Gipple in the initial water chemistry study. This study will also aid in determining if the upgrading of the Mt. Pleasant wastewater treatment plant from a primary to a secondary facility will improve the water quality of the Chippewa River. |
