Abstract/Summary:
Identifying Protein-protein interaction sites is very important for drug and protein design, producing hydrogen, helps with the investigation of intracellular signaling pathways, and give better understand the workings of the cell. There is currently no high throughput experimental method to achieve this goal, so computational methods to find the interaction sites of proteins have become very important. The purpose of development of a software system for predicting Protein-protein interactions sites is to provide and analyze the candidate interaction sites and investigate interaction criteria. The protein- protein interaction site software system was broken down into two subsystems namely Interaction Detection Subsystem and Data Analysis and Property Requisition Subsystem. The Interaction Detection Subsystem was designed based on the interaction tendencies of electrostatic and hydrogen bonds. Data Analysis and Property Requisition Subsystem analyzed the resulting putative interaction sites in which chemical properties such as the net charge at each position of residue sequences are considered. The user interface for the system is designed and implemented based on the system requirements. The system developed following the steps of Systems Engineering approach, and was tested using well defined data sets. Finally results for Protein-protein interactions sites software system were verified and validated.
