Abstract/Summary:
This technical report covers the background and history of the Public Fishing Rights Land Acquisition Program of the Department of Environmental Conservation in New York State, and the steps taken to research, compile and organize both historical and current data in order to create an up to date geographic information systems database and corresponding map coverage of the Lake Champlain study area. Research was conducted at the NYSDEC in Albany, New York. ARC/INFO is the platform for the geographic information system. A discussion of governing policy, state funding sources, and current status of the acquisition program is also included. Examples of contracts, both original and recent, and current status of the program are included and discussed. Submitted with this report are hard copy map samples, a printout of database information contained in the newly created system, and two 3 1/2{dollar}sp{lcub}primeprime{rcub}{dollar} floppy disks which contain the actual database tables and geographic coverages.
