The failure of the regulatory agencies to control environmental degradation experienced in the Nigerian industry is due to existing legislative and administrative lapses.;The second chapter of the thesis examines the legislative styles adopted by the Nigerian legislature and the different approaches applied by the regulatory agencies. This is to show how the existing regime affects compliance with the regulations by oil operators and the control of pollution in the industry in Nigeria.;In the last two chapters of this study, the various approaches adopted by Alberta in controlling environmental problems are critically analysed, including the role of Alberta's main regulatory agency, the Energy and Utilities Board (EUB) in reducing oil spills and gas flaring associated with the industry. The lessons which Nigeria can learn from Alberta's regulatory experience are also discussed. | Keywords/Search Tags: | Industry, Gas, Environmental, Oil, Nigeria, Alberta's, Regulatory | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
