Abstract/Summary:
We developed a Web site that performs clustering as an example to demonstrate the concept of Web Computing Sites (WCS). On a WCS, users can upload their data, run a particular algorithm, and get the real-time results. One of the important computing techniques, clustering, is widely used in many fields such as medical science, linguistics, aerospace engineering and criminology. Our Clustering Web Computing Site (CWCS) makes available the Simple Fuzzy Clustering and K-means Clustering algorithms to worldwide Web users. More importantly, it allows the users to perform clustering of their own data at the server side independent of the users' platforms. To enable the CWCS to function as above, we used advanced Web technologies such as CGI and Java. This preliminary project provides a showcase for WCS that run other computing techniques. This demonstration of the concept of WCS should stimulate the development of important computational resource sites in the future.
