Abstract/Summary:
Volume visualization may be defined as the extraction, highlighting, and display of structures of interest. Traditionally, systems offering volume visualization capability have been developed as software for standalone machines with little support for network connectivity. We present a web-based volume visualization system that fosters remote delivery of visualization information over the web. The system uses VRML to deliver the visualizations. Volume visualization also involves performing relatively intense computations to build final renderings. Hence, our system includes SIMD Within A Register (SWAR) optimizations that enable faster computation of visualizations on new generation computers that have SWAR capability.
