Abstract/Summary:
There are needs for compact, rugged and efficient beam splitters for several applications of special interest are beam splitters that are capable of splitting an incident beam into several output beams of equal power.; In this thesis we present two designs of beam splitters capable of dividing an input beam into four beams with equal power suitable for applications at HeNe laser (wavelength = 632.8 nm), of interest.; The first design uses coating strips of variable thicknesses on the front of SiO2 slab and silver coating on the back. The second design is an all-dielectric design that uses coating strips on both sides of the SiO2 slab. Deviations of powers, efficiency and polarization due to deviations in angle of incidence, spectral deviation and film thickness are presented.
