Abstract/Summary:
pH neutralization system at the titration point is a highly nonlinear and sensitive chemical process which presents the linear controllers with extreme difficulty. The standard formulation of Nonlinear Model Predictive Control (NMPC) in which the model is identical to the process except that it doesn't know the disturbance applied to this system results in a controller with stability and efficiency problems. Thus, Accelerated Nonlinear Model Predictive Control (ANMPC) strategy in which a faster model is used to model the process is developed and applied to the same process. The comparisons show that the advantages of the latter are obvious and significant. Also some other issues related to NMPC such as the tuning parameters effects in NMPC and the achievement of the optimal control in ANMPC are also explored in detail.
