Abstract/Summary:
This thesis addresses the problem of remote sensing parameterization and its dependence on ground-based measurements for hydrometeorological applications. The thesis evaluates the potential and applicability of the preliminary parameterization of evapotranspiration and Fire Weather Index (FWI) estimates using integrated GOES and NOAA images. In addition, it develops a model of evapotranspiration and a way to estimate the FWI.; This thesis provides a strong, positive solution to the above problem. The models provide values of air temperature and relative humidity with regular resolution in time and space. This allowed the development of a new remote sensing model of hourly evapotranspiration. In addition, a scheme for regionalizing the FWI using remote-sensing data and the output of a weather forecast model was developed.
