Abstract/Summary:
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of applying colors to a mapping assignment, specifically by incorporating maps with a blue-gray background and red highlights, and determining if map labeling skills were enhanced. This was done by comparing the map labeling skills of one group of students who received the color enhanced map assignment, against another group of students who received the same map that was black and white. The quantitative data gathered in this study showed no significance in responses between the treatment group and the control group. However, qualitative data showed seventy percent of students preferred the color-enhanced maps.
