This study was designed to determine the food safety knowledge of 23 patients who tested HIV-positive. A convenience sample of subjects were selected from a local agency for patients with HIV. Food safety surveys were completed to determine the extent of each subject's food safety knowledge. The food safety surveys were analyzed using a cumulative frequency distribution and descriptive statistics. The mean score was calculated (mean 81.39) along with the standard deviation (SD = 16.47), minimum (MIN = 46), and maximum (MAX = 100) values. Cumulative frequency distribution showed that 39% of the participants had inadequate food safety knowledge, and 61% had adequate food safety knowledge. A general need for increased food safety counseling was found. |
