| The women's movement had an effect on the role of the heroine in Disney animated feature-length classic fairy tales over the 60 years in which these films were released. Using the source tales as a point of comparison, the role of the Disney heroines can be shown to relate to the role of women in society at the time the films were released. As women became liberated in the 60's, these Disney heroines' level of activity in the story increased and they had the added goal of freedom. However, the goals of marriage and motherhood remained over the years and were still the answer to all their problems. |
