| Beginning in September 1997, the Paul Bentley Moving Image Collection at the San Francisco State University Archives was cataloged. To make this archive of approximately 1,200 items of 16-mm film (motion pictures and television) and 101 posters accessible a database was created in FileMaker Pro.; Fields for the film material were based on the Library of Congress Archival Moving Image Materials manual and the particular needs of the archives, and allowed notation of the condition and description of each film item. A separate file with descriptive fields for the posters was related to the main file. Lists were generated for general access, a preservation survey, removal log, and shelf location. Recommendations were made for preservation and maintenance.; The project report also contains a general history of film, television, and moving-image archives, as well as information about the Bentley collection and the San Francisco State University Archives. |
