Abstract/Summary:
The use for e-payments have reached worldwide interest in the last decade. One of the newest way to perform this kind of payment is the e-currency. The purpose of this study was to identify which factors impact the most over the use of the e-currency throughout the mobile devices in Puerto Rico. The theoretical models in which this study was based were the TAM from Davis (1986), the TPB from Azjen (1991) and a ETAM from Fonchanmyo (2013). For this investigation, the suggested model was modified using variables extracted from the literature that have demonstrate to influence or that have a significant impact on the use of this type of technology. The sample used for this study consisted of 237 participants and the instrument to collect the data was an electronic survey form on the web. The software used to obtain the results from the collected data were the SPSS (ver. 24) and SmartPLS (ver. 3.2.3). The analysis made with this software validated the relations between the exogenous variables (Perception of Ease of Use (PEU), Perception of Usefulness (PU), Perception Risk (PR), Perception of Security (PS) and Perception of Trust (PT) and endogenous variables; Attitude (A) and Intention of Use (I). All mentioned variables were moderated by the variable of Knowledge (K). The results showed significant evidence to support the hypothesis formulated by the investigator on the following cases; there is a positive effect between (PEU), (PU) and the Demographics towards (I) and there is a positive effect between (PR) and (PT) towards the Attitude. And finally, the variable (K) demonstrated to moderate between (PC) and Attitude, and that impacts by itself towards the Intention of Use of the e-currency in Puerto Rico.
