Abstract/Summary:
In the aftermath of World War II, the Allies proceeded to bring many Nazi war criminals to justice. However, the Allies were unable to apprehend every Nazi war criminal because many of them had either fled Germany or established new identities. Among the many Nazi war criminals who managed to evade justice, there are three particular individuals who are quite significant. The first individual is Adolf Eichmann, who coordinated the deportations of Jews and other “undesirables” to the concentration camps. The second individual is Dr. Joseph Mengele, a doctor at Auschwitz who was notorious for his “medical experiments” on the inmates. The third individual is Kurt Waldheim, who served as a lieutenant in the Wehrmacht (German Army). During his military service, Waldheim was stationed in the Balkans, where the Germans and their collaborators were known for their brutality towards partisans and POWs.; This study is a prosopography (comparative biography) in which the author will discuss how all three men are prime examples among those who served the Nazi regime.
