Abstract/Summary:
The objective of the present work is to measure the intensity of the cosmic radiation and to analyze its variation with latitude, height, and east-west asymmetry with a detector of cosmic rays for various locations in the Puerto Rico. Several Geiger-Müller counters were used with effective cross section of 7 cm2. The number of impacts detected were tabulated and represented graphically.; Analysis of graphs demonstrates that there is a specific region, for the different locations under study, where there is a larger number of impacts detected. This is located in the detector's orientation of the geographic west. When the detector is relocate to places with different heights an increase of impacts detected was observed. The results show the variation of the intensity of the cosmic radiation with height (as related to the latitude effect) and the preference of the arrival of cosmic radiation to the surface from the west (east-west effect). The percentage of the difference in the number of coincidences in the Geiger-Müller counters when it penetrates a lead enclosure was found. The penetration ability of the ionizes particles was analyzed by this way.
