This thesis describes a system of programs for computer aided design and manufacture of membrane structures which include form finding, analysis and visualization of stress. The programs are designed as pre-processor and post-processor modules for a main program based on Dynamic Relaxation theory. The main program performs form finding, analysis for stresses and deformations under load. The post-processor module includes the visualization of stress patterns by color-coding and numeric designation. Areas of high stress or even slag members can be detected in a complex geometry. The pattern module allows output for cutting manually or by a flatbed plotter. Compensation factors considering prestress and modulus of elasticity in warp & weft direction are included. Accurate results help to avoid unintended stresses enhance the speed of manufacture. |
