The concept of holism is an underlying foundation in Occupational Therapy (OT) as well as in Alternative and Complementary Medicine (ACM). Many Alternative and Complementary treatments and modalities focus on the mind-body connection and serve to empower the patient with taking charge of his/her health. Occupational Therapists educate and empower individuals to improve their minds and bodies. There is a difference of opinion as to whether ACM should be included in the standard OT curriculum.;This study attempts to explore the various forms of Alternative and Complementary Medicine that might be congruent with Pediatric Occupational Therapy. In addition, this study attempts to assess the opinions/perceptions of third year OT students towards ACM in comparison with practicing Pediatric Occupational Therapists nationwide. Furthermore, the work settings are compared with the types of ACM modalities used. The study also looks at the number of years of practice of Occupational Therapists and their opinions/perceptions towards ACM. (Abstract shortened by UMI.)...
