| There are three main important aspects in today's manufacturing world: production and planning; machine processes; and design and planning. A Postprocessor provides a link between the Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) system in the planning and design environment and the Numerically Controlled (NC) machines in machine process environment. This thesis explains the efforts of development and implementation of a Postprocessor in a mini Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) system. It converts the generated APT source code into a suitable format for the Generic Postprocessor. It discusses the methodology of source code generation, customization, and adaptation to a mini Computerized Numerically Controlled (CNC) milling machine in a Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) system. |
