Abstract/Summary:
The scramjet cycle analysis code SCRAM, developed at the NASA Langley Research Center, which is hardwired for hydrogen as the fuel, has been extensively modified to deal with any fuel-air mixture. In particular, hydrocarbon-fueled scramjet performance may now be analyzed using this modified code, called HCSCRAM. The equilibrium combustion products are now determined using appropriate subroutines from the NASA-Lewis LSENS code. The attributes of the original SCRAM code are discussed herein, as are the modifications made to generate HCSCRAM. Some illustrative results are presented for representative hydrocarbon fuels. Sufficient documentation of the HCSCRAM code is provided in order to allow a new user to utilize the code without prior knowledge of either the SCRAM or LSENS codes.
