Abstract/Summary:
Ferromagnetic artificial pinning centers were used in superconducting NbTi wires to achieve a large critical current density (Saturation Magnetization measurements on the wires showed a correlation between an increase in the amount of Ni remaining ferromagnetic in the wires and an increase in Wires with small superconducting filament diameters (0.3 This thesis research was the result of a collaboration between Yale University and IGC-Advanced Superconductors (Waterbury, CT).
