Abstract/Summary:
Tensile structures are used to cover large areas such as sport facilities which must be left free from columns. The cable dome is a new type of such roof structure, the lightweight system is resulting from a unique combination of cables, membrane and posts. The purpose of this thesis is to compare the structural behaviour of two possible configurations of cable dome structures. These two structures are submitted to different load cases and we also look at the influence of the pretension level. The analysis is based on the conventional methods for a cable structural network, although slightly modified to accommodate the posts.
