Abstract/Summary:
The purpose of this study was to determine the durability of a sand wearing surface, made from sand particles and a resin matrix, for a fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) bridge deck exposed to constant fatigue loading and vehicular trafficking.;The results of this study showed minimal deterioration in terms of sand loss, skid resistance, and texture height indicating a long service life for the sand wearing surface.;Sand wearing surface specimens were subjected to simulated fatigue loading and simulated trafficking tests. Sand loss, skid resistance and texture height were monitored to determine the durability of the sand wearing surface.
