he growing number of people settling into urban areas underscores the importance of responsible urban planning. Many dimensions of urban life, including transportation, are potentially hazardous to ecosystems and human health. The purpose of this study is to identify all potential impacts from urban transportation, and integrate them into an impact assessment framework that could serve to increase policy makers', and the general public's understanding of transportation issues.;The framework is applied to a case study of an intended roadway widening scheme in Edmonton, Alberta.
