This thesis presents an approach to tool selection that has the ability to generate and rank tooling alternatives for a plan. This system is designed for use as part of the dynamic process planning system, PARIS. The system makes use of object-oriented design and programming in its implementation and extracts the needed data from a product model based on the ISO STEP application protocol, AP224.
