Abstract/Summary:
Reaction kinetics were studied for an industrial batch reaction system through experiments with a laboratory batch reactor to identify the significant reaction parameters. The reaction rate constants were obtained by integrating the rate equations, which were a function of temperature and pH.;Once the kinetic rate constants were available for the range of reaction conditions, the temperature and pH influence on the reaction kinetics was quantified. The Arrhenius and pH parameters were obtained from the rate constants and reaction conditions. To model the reaction system in ASPEN-PLUS, these parameters were incorporated into a FORTRAN subroutine that utilizes the differential rate equations to calculate the rate of reaction.;The ASPEN-PLUS model successfully predicts the mole fraction profile data for each component for an applicable temperature range of 5...
