Abstract/Summary:
This thesis is divided into 3 parts. The first section details studies towards using reductive lithiation chemistry for generating stabilized alpha-lithio ethers on THF rings, analyzing the conformation of organolithiums derived from aminonitriles, and cyclization of sp3 organolithiums on to amides. The second part highlights the efforts and routes towards the natural product maoecrystal V. The third section showcases the use of computationally predicted 13C--NMR shifts to differentiate between complex structures.
