Abstract/Summary:
An efficient parallel iterative method for structured and unstructured grids is presented in this thesis. The novelty is the use of a localized ILU preconditioner for the parallel Navier-Stokes equations solver which enhances the degree of parallelization and keeps load balance. In order to stabilize the localized ILU(0) preconditioning, an additive Schwarz domain decomposition (ASM) for overlapped regions is introduced. Parallel performance is evaluated for blood flow through artery and Lid driven cavity flow. The ILU(0) preconditioner significantly increases the convergence rate and also decreases the CPU time which results in better speed up and efficiency for parallel solver.
