Abstract/Summary:
Scope and method of study. The purpose of this study was to evaluate how Oklahoma newspapers use the Food and Agricultural Products Center news releases. A descriptive analysis approach was used to measure the publication of news releases sent to Oklahoma newspapers from September 10 through December 10, 2004.; Findings and conclusions. The Food and Agricultural Products Center distributed 15 news releases to Oklahoma newspapers which resulted in the publication of 39 center-related stories during the fall of 2004. The most frequently printed stories were related to center workshops. Newspapers in the central region of Oklahoma printed the most stories about the Food and Agricultural Products Center. It was apparent as a result of the findings that the news media are supportive to the Food and Agricultural Products Center's mission of bringing together academia and the private sector.
