Abstract/Summary:
This thesis investigates and analyzes the contributions made by web acceleration methods using cloud enabled techniques for mobile devices. Experiments were conducted to evaluate the performance of web acceleration techniques and to quantify the improvement in browsing experience achieved using cloud techniques. The claims made by Amazon to provide better browsing experience using cloud computing techniques were verified and discrepancies, if any found, were explained. To quantify Kindle's performance, page loading tests were conducted on Samsung Galaxy Tab S2, Maxthon and Proxy Central application. In all these tests, Kindle Fire performed better than the others in mobile environment in the cloud enabled mode. Page loading tests were performed on the Silk browser in cloud enabled and disabled mode to verify web browsing improvement achieved using cloud computing techniques. It was found that the page load time and inbound bytes were significantly reduced only for Amazon.com website. Cloud computing techniques used for Amazon.com website should be used for other popular websites as well to provide better browsing experience.
