| In this research project I have answered the question: "How does artistic expression, when combined with creative potential, contribute to successful aging?" Through study, and by observing and interviewing human subjects, I have been able to gain knowledge of memory recall, creative expression and successful aging. I was able to audio-tape the participants in my survey and the responses to the questions I asked are reported in this thesis. In addition, as an integral part of the project, I have produced a creative work, which involved tapping my creative potential by drawing on personal memories. The result is a handcrafted book of original drawings that are done in both black and white and color. These pictures reflect the themes of relationships and windows. As a result of research I have developed an understanding of the value that artistic involvement can bring to the lives of older men and women. |
