Abstract/Summary:
Undocumented students are students who do not possess legal status to be in the United States. These students go to school with an uncertainty about their educational future. However, many of these students in the Los Angeles area have graduated from high school and continued their education at the college and university level, gaining bachelor's, masters, and doctoral degrees. Given recent budget cuts, the number of staff in public schools has decreased, which impacts all students. A support group for these students would be beneficial to help them to cope with stressors and succeed in attaining higher education. The support group described in this thesis would encompass education, linkage, and awareness of an underserved and oppressed group in society: undocumented students in the Los Angeles area. Actual submission and/or funding of this grant proposal was not required for the successful completion of this thesis.
