Abstract/Summary:
The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between the use of wiki technology for instructional purposes and student achievement in middle school English language arts classes. The study was supported by a constructivist theoretical/ conceptual framework. A mixed methodology was used in this study. The study was guided by one quantitative research question, one hypothesis, one null hypothesis, and six qualitative research questions. The explanatory sequential mixed method design, which involves the collection and analysis of both quantitative and qualitative data, was used to address the research hypothesis and questions of the study. The data collection instruments used in this study were classroom tests, interviews, focus groups, and observations. The population for this study included eighth-grade English language arts teachers and all students enrolled in eighth grade English language arts classes. Two of six classes were chosen as the canvass for this study. The results of this study indicate that there is a significant relationship between the use of wiki technology for instructional purposes and student achievement in middle school English language arts.
