| This thesis explores the effectiveness of technology, as represented by the Tell Me More software program, on the pronunciation learning of beginning German students, focusing on the role that metacognitive factors play in that process. Reviews of the software are discussed. Interactive software reviews were chosen to show the gradual development of German Hyperglot software from 1995 through 2004, with Tell Me More reportedly the most effective of comparable current software as a self-tutoring pronunciation-learning tool. A study conducted with human subjects at a local community college study offered conclusions about the success of the software in regard specifically to beginning German pronunciation learning. |
