Abstract/Summary:
The focus of this project was a brief survey assessing primary health care professionals' knowledge, skills, and attitudes about providing geriatric patient care through interprofessional/interdisciplinary health care teams, and measuring their current awareness about the University of Alaska's Geriatric Education Center (AKGEC). The project was exploratory in nature. Data collected from 361 primary health care professionals provided information regarding Alaskan interprofessional health care teams' services to the geriatric population. Results indicated an interest and need for education in interprofessional practice. The majority of participants agreed that interprofessional teams were effective and should have been incorporated in providing services for geriatric patients.
