Abstract/Summary:
Gastric Cancer is a highly lethal disease. Early detection and appropriate treatment decrease the mortality rate. Some countries, such as Chile, have a high incidence and prevalence of gastric cancer. The proposed study is in the Bio-Bio region where there is a high prevelence of H. Pylori infection. The association of H. Pylori and gastric cancer is of debatable causality. Aspirin use has been associated with decrease of gastric and colon cancers. The proposed study will randomize populations at risk between treatment of H. Pylori in asymptomatic individuals with antibiotics and aspirin versus placebos.
