Abstract/Summary:
Chemotherapy is one epicenter of cancer care that brings people and technology together in and around the infusion center. Within this space patients interact with providers and medical devices and these interactions shape their experience with chemotherapy.;This text explores how a patient-centered design process can address cancer care interactions with the aim of improving the patient's experience during chemotherapy. This process includes design led research that is done in the field with patients, creative analysis that is informed by the perspectives of patients and conceptual design based outcomes.;The basis for this process was developed at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance and the graduate design studio at the University of Washington.
