The Mobile Nursing Center (MNC) was developed to provide health screening services and education to at risk and underserved portions of the populace in Nebraska. Based on the need to determine the health-promoting behaviors of Spanish-speaking males who attended the MNC, a descriptive, comparative, correlational study was conducted. The study purpose was to determine the differences and relationships of health-promoting behaviors according to the level of acculturation. Using Pender's Health Promotion Model and the 52-item Spanish Version of the Health-Promoting Lifestyle Profile II (HPLP-II), 42 Hispanic males were surveyed. It was determined that there were statistically significant differences in the subject's health-promoting behaviors in certain HPLP-II subgroups and significant relationships between HPLP-II subgroups and the subject's level of acculturation. Based on the conclusions, several recommendations were provided for additional study using a larger sample of Hispanic males in various settings throughout the State of Nebraska.
