Abstract/Summary:
In fulfillment of the Master of Fine Arts degree, three dances were performed at the Martha B. Knoebel Dance Theatre at California State University Long Beach. The first of them, The US in We, premiered February 29, 2004, with a running time of approximately 19 minutes. This dance portrayed a release from the pressures of everyday living and societal beliefs about how a person should live. The second dance was TRIAD, which premiered April 28, 2005, with a running time of approximately 8 minutes. This dance was a study in forceful, combative movement qualities and aggressive partnering. The third and final dance was momentous vulnerability , which premiered November 17, 2005, with a running time of approximately 8 minutes. This dance was an exploration in soft movement. The feeling of the dance was to walk through a meadow making a connection to a higher power.
