| In this thesis we develop a solution for torque drive control of gear coupled systems with loose tolerances. The system under study is one in which an electric motor driven gear is mechanically coupled, via a gear mesh, to a load gear. It is assumed that this gear mesh is of loose tolerance and therefore prone to issues such as backlash, and acoustical and structure borne noise generation. Other external system constraints such as position control and timing requirements are also incorporated. A three step solution is then presented to remove unwanted affects of loose gear tolerances while still meeting all external constraints. |
