Abstract/Summary:
An investigation of the static and dynamic behavior of a three-span continuous curved steel I-girder bridge is conducted. The bridge had served as A-6 ramp over 1-215 eastbound of the 6400 South interchange in Salt Lake City. This research utilizes the data obtained by a live-load truck test and a forced vibration test conducted before the demolition of the bridge.;An optimization of a finite-element modeling scheme is conducted in order to evaluate the level of detail which leads a good accordance with the measured data of the live-load truck test. The design bending moments of eight finite-element models are compared using the live-load specified in the “Standard Specifications for Highway Bridges” of the American Association of the State Highway and Transportation.;The dynamic analysis is conducted in order to evaluate the relationship between the existence of damage and bridge behavior through the changes of the natural frequencies.
