Abstract/Summary:
The landscape through its history has been built and reconstructed by the human being. With the loss of the thick forests of Puerto Rico interventions of sylviculture were produced that helped to reforest the mountains and to recover the landscape of the Island. Many of these places intervened have managed to establish characteristics with certain air of permanence that is confused to be original. The study analyzes the mountainous zone of the northwest area of Puerto Rico and the immediacies of the man with the landscape that include the construction of the reservoir Guajataca and the irrigation system of the District of Isabela. The camp Guajataka of the Boy Scouts of America is presented as a land whose collective memory speaks of a place with exceptional qualities, direct contact with the natural world, a place to entertain the fascinations of memory.
