Abstract/Summary:
The American Recovery and Reinvestment of 2009 was passed to help slow the effects of economic recession. Renewable energy investment was employed as a mechanism to create jobs and invest in domestic infrastructure. Using multiple regression analysis, this study examined the role of presidential politics in the distribution of renewable energy and energy efficiency funds. The results indicate that voting for President Obama in 2008 was one of many factors that had a relative impact on the amount of renewable energy awards received by a state. This may indicate that the distribution of stimulus funds was used to reward states that supported the president. Understanding the distribution of funds is important because results of this act will have consequences for both future renewable energy policy and energy infrastructure investment.;Key Words: renewable energy, energy efficiency, the stimulus, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, distributive politics, renewable energy policy...
