| The purpose of this work was to investigate the theory of autogiro, which will explain the behavior of an Autogiro and will provide a method of estimating the effect of changes in the fundamental aerodynamic parameters of the system.; A concept discussion follows, illustrated by a preliminary design, which is intended to meet the specification given for an Autogiro.; The fundamental aerodynamic principles of autogiro are discussed in this thesis. The application of this principle forms the basis of aerodynamics design of the Autogiro. A study of this theory removes any element of the mystery attached to the machine performance, and enables the designer to predict the flight characteristics of any Autogiro he or she may build. |
