Abstract/Summary:
This research covers three topics: (1) Heat transfer to furnace roof at room temperature; (2) Heat transfer to cyclone wall at room temperature; (3) Development of a mechanistic model of gas-solid separation in a new compact cyclone, and verification by experiments at room temperature.; This new compact cyclone can reduce construction cost of CFB by revamping pulverized coal boiler to CFB boiler. These are all new areas and no paper about these topics is found in published literature.; There are new findings in the experiments of heat transfer to both the roof and cyclone wall suggesting a new mechanism of heat transfer on these surfaces. The experimental results opened new questions in this field.; This model can help analyze performance of experiments with different sizes of the compact cyclones. Besides, through the model experimental results can be used for commercial design of the cyclones.
