| This thesis describes a new equation, referenced as the ALSN (Al-Manaseer and Snezana) 2004, to predict the shrinkage of concrete containing shrinkage reducing admixture (SRA) (i.e., a chemical admixture that reduces drying shrinkage of concrete). The equation is a modified version of the GL 2000 shrinkage model. The equation was tested for concrete mixes containing SRA in the range of 0.5--2.5% by mass of cementitious materials. The ALSN 2004 model was compared with the GL 2000 model and the CEB-FIP MC 90-99 utilizing the residual method, average and standard deviation of residuals, the CEB coefficient of variation method, the CEB mean square error method, and the CEB mean deviation method. The results show that the ALSN 2004 has improved the shrinkage prediction of concrete containing SRA. To date no known model has been published to predict the drying shrinkage of concrete containing SRA. |
