Abstract/Summary:
Electrospun PMMA/QDs Polymer nanocomposites have been fabricated and characterized by different analytical methods. The factors affecting the fabrication methods, different fabrication methods, and property analysis of the fibers fabricated are discussed. By decreasing the percentage of PMMA, distance, and flow rate to 8 wt% PMMA, 5 cm and 2 µL, flow rate, and by increasing the voltage to 20 kV, uniform, fine, and beads free fibers are produced. Fluorescence microscopy clearly gives the presence of quantum dots by the fluorescence exhibited in the images of PMMA/QDs nanocomposite fibers. Thermal gravimetric analysis shows that the electrospun PMMA/QDs nanocomposite fibers are more thermally stable than the electrospun PMMA fibers and theological studies prove that the PMMA/QDs solution is less viscous than the PMMA solution and shear rate-shear stress plot gives the pseudoplastic nature of the polymer. A characteristic peak is produced at around 600 nm with atomic absorption spectrometer and a strong peak is observed at 614 nm which gives the presence of quantum dots. Quantitative analysis of PMMA/QDs solution is proven from atomic adsorption spectrometer and fluorescence spectrophotometer which shows an increase in the level of peaks as the concentration of quantum dots increases.
