Abstract/Summary:
The morphological, electrical and mechanical roles of carbon nanotubes in catalyst layer were studied. The carbon nanotubes incorporated catalyst layer significantly improves the uniformity and morphological properties. The carbon nanotubes induce minimal cracking and maximal interconnect. This is largely related to the strong bonding of catalyst related materials to carbon nanotubes. This increases the conductivity by an order of one magnitude and also the mechanical resistance in the presence of water in the catalyst layers.
